About Mobile Security ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Trend Micro Mobile Security for Symbian is a Trend Micro solution for wireless mobile devices that use the Symbian operating system. Through a simple interface, users can configure antivirus and Anti-spam options. Mobile Security antivirus options include the ability to perform a Manual Scan and Real-time Scan on all files and folders, with the options to delete, quarantine and ignore files detected with viruses and security risks. Anti-spam options include the ability to allow or filter SMS and WAP-Push messages from a configured list of phone numbers. Users can also view scan, Anti-spam, and task logs. 2. What's New ======================================================================== Mobile Security version 2.0 includes these additional security enhancements and features: 1. Quarantine option for handling viruses and risks 2. Protection from harmful WAP-Push messages 3. Scheduled Update and Connection settings 2.1 Resolved Known Issues (from Previous Version) 2.1.1 Manual Scan ----------------- Previously, the user could not switch to another application when Mobile Security is scanning a large compressed (SIS/ZIP) file. This is now fixed. 2.1.2 Anti-spam --------------- Previously, Mobile Security would occasionally fail to filter a spam message that arrives immediately after the phone is turned on. This is now resolved with this version. 3. Documentation Set ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In addition to this readme.txt, the documentation set for this product includes the following: - User's Guide -- product overview, installation, configuration instructions, and basic information intended to get you "up and running." Electronic versions of the printed manuals are available at: http://www.trendmicro.com/download/ - Online help -- Context-sensitive help screens that provide guidance for performing a task. - Knowledge Base -- A searchable database of known product issues, including specific problem-solving and troubleshooting topics. http://kb.trendmicro.com/solutions/ 4. System Requirements ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mobile Security has the following minimum system requirements for your device and a host PC: 4.1 Device ---------- Interface - UIQ 2.0 or 2.1 Operating system - Symbian OS 7.0 Storage space - 3MB minimum free in internal memory Memory - 1.2MB minimum free memory, 2MB recommended Phones supported in this release are: * Sony Ericsson P910i * Sony Ericsson P910c * Sony Ericsson P910a * Sony Ericsson P900 * Sony Ericsson P908 * Sony Ericsson P800 * Sony Ericsson P802 4.2 Host PC ----------- Operating system - Microsoft(tm) Windows(tm) XP or Windows 2000 Adobe(TM) Acrobat(TM) 5.0 or higher is required to view documentation that is provided in PDF format. You can download the free Acrobat Reader(TM) software at http://www.adobe.com. 5. Installation ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Perform the following steps to install Mobile Security: Using PC Suite software on the host PC -------------------------------------- 1) Copy the setup file, MobileSecurity_UIQ_CNS.sis, to the host PC. 2) Connect your device to a host computer with PC Suite. 3) On the host computer, run the PC Suite software installation application. A prompt appears on the host PC. 4) Select the setup file and click Open. Installation begins. 5) Click Install anyway on the prompt that appears. A new prompt appears. 6) Click Next. A new prompt appears with language choices. 7) Select the correct language and click Next. The license agreement is displayed. 8) Carefully read the license agreement, and then click Yes if you want to continue installation. A prompt appears, informing you that Mobile Security can only be installed in internal memory. 9) Click Yes. 10)Click Finish. Installation is complete. Mobile Security now appears in your Applications menu. Using Bluetooth --------------- 1) Copy the setup file, MobileSecurity_UIQ_CNS.sis, to a Bluetooth-enabled PC. 2) Transfer the setup file to your phone using Bluetooth. A prompt appears on your phone. 3) Select View. A Security information prompt appears asking if you want to proceed. 4) Select Yes. The Install software prompt appears. 5) Select Install. The license agreement is shown. 6) Carefully read the license agreement, and then click Yes if you want to continue installation. A prompt appears, informing you that Mobile Security can only be installed in internal memory. 7) Select Yes. The installer extracts the SIS file. When installation is complete, Mobile Security appears in your Applications menu. 6. Post-Installation Configuration ======================================================================== No post-installation configuration steps are required. Note: Trend Micro recommends that you update your scan engine and virus pattern files immediately after installing the product. 7. Known Issues ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here are the known issues in this release: 7.1 Installation ----------------- Upgrade from version 1.0 is currently not supported. To install version 2.0, you will have to uninstall version 1.0 first. 7.2 PC Suite Installation ------------------------- Directly replacing the installed version of Trend Micro Mobile Security from PC Suite is currently not supported. You will need to uninstall the existing version first and then install the new one. 7.3 Real-time Scan ------------------ When the mobile phone's flip cover is closed, the Real-time Scan notification may show a non-functioning scroll bar. To see the complete message, open the flip cover first. 8. Release History ======================================================================== Mobile Security for Symbian UIQ 1.0, January 26, 2005 9.
