almostalways more than on€way to go abouta job. A pe €ct
example of this is the tip and tum tableon page30.
When we werc plarudng the table,w€ spent a lot of time dis-
cussingwhat kind of top to make.And I think tlrc tw€lve€ided,
veneeredp\,wood top we cameup with looks gieat. (Youcansee
it on the cov€.) But shortly aJterwe finished building and Photo
graphing the table for this issue,Ted Raife, one of our editors,
came to me with an id€a for making a rourd, dish€d toP out of
sold wood using a router.
Ted's procedure involved using a trammel along with the
rorter to cr€at€th€ molded edSeof the top. Then the router is
mounted on a sled that alows you to dish out the cent€r of the
top. I haveto admit that it sound€d pr€tty intriSuing.ButunJortu-
nately, as interestingasTed'sidea was, there just wasnl enough
spacein the nagazine to indude it as Part of the tableadide
