To install TotalTide successfully your computer must meet the minimum requirements set out below.
Under Windows NT and Windows 2000 you also require Administrator privileges to run the installation package or your network administrator must have configured your system to permit an elevated installation. (Refer to your network administrator to confirm this.)
Microsoft Windows versions 95, 98, NT4, 2000 and ME.
TotalTide will run on any computer meeting the Microsoft minimum hardware recommendations for the operating system installed.
The TotalTide installation program should start automatically on insertion of the CD. If it does not start automatically you can start it by running the file ‘setup.exe’ in the root of the TotalTide CD. (e.g. ‘D:\setup.exe’ if your CD is D:)
The installer will check for the current version of the Windows Installer service and install it if necessary. A reboot may be required at this point, however the installation will resume automatically on restart.
The End User Licence Agreement (EULA) for TotalTide is now displayed. You should read this carefully; it is a contract between you and the UK Hydrographic Office. If you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out in the EULA you can accept them by selecting the ‘I Agree’ option. On accepting the EULA the ‘Next’ button will be activated allowing you to proceed.
The installer will prompt for personal details and then you can choose a location for the installed program and data files. The default (recommended) is to install to a ‘TotalTide’ subfolder of the ‘Program Files’ system folder.
On choosing a location (or accepting the default) you are invited to start copying files. Clicking ‘Next’ completes the installation.
TotalTide requires minimum versions of certain Microsoft Windows redistributable files. The installer will check your system and update these files if necessary. If a reboot is required the installer will inform you when then installation is completed and automatically reboot your PC.
To start the TotalTide program on successful installation either check the option box on the installer to run the application on exit from the installer or click the TotalTide icon found under Start Menu\Programs.
The data used by the TotalTide application is the property of the UKHO and its Licensors. Purchasing a TotalTide licence entitles you to use the application in the manner set out in the EULA to make tidal predictions for the areas you haven licensed
The TotalTide application has been designed to permit intuitive use, and there is on-line help available via the ‘Help’ option on the menu bar. It can also be accessed by pressing the F1 key.
