who was

treeson his 280-acrefarm (issue42,

andif he'sstill planting?

in 1986,Robert,are
just
beginningto reach4-6" indiameter.
Although he cutssomeof those
for thinning purposes,mostof the hardwood
treeswill take40-50
years
to mature, a gift for the next generation.
Until then he continues
to convertmore acresto forest. "There
is real satisfactionin seeingthe
land changefrom cattlepasture
backto forests,"Kevin saidwhen
we
caughtup with him.
In the meantime,
small nurserytreesprovidehis bestcashcrop:

andsycamoreseeds(28,000per acre),
which have
grown into
a denseforestof 5-8'trees andundergrowth.
