Hammering creates a matte inish
for these wire earrings

With textured silver wire and bicone
crystals, these starburst earrings are made
to dazzle. You’ll see how hammering
gives plain wire a fashion-forward inish.
Supply List
pair of earring wires
chainnose and
roundnose pliers
diagonal wire cutters
ball-peen hammer
bench block or anvil
metal file or emery board
12–16 4mm bicone
crystals
24–40 in. (61–102cm)
20-gauge half-hard wire
2 6–8mm inside
diameter jump rings
EDITOR’S TIP
After stringing a crystal,
move it off the edge of
the bench block or anvil
so the wire will lie lat
against the work surface.

wire and the hammered wires,
positioning them so they curve
in different directions. Close
the jump ring. Make a second
earring to match the first.
