Introduction
My personal HBCD includes some tools that are rather bulky and may not be of interest to
most users of the standard HBCD. These tools would add a prohibitive 5 Gb to the upload so
until now I omitted them from the uploaded version. Some users, however, have requested to, at
least, show how these tools (e.g. BackTrack) may be integrated to the DVD/USB boot menus.
The boot menus and conguration les of this edition have entries for these optional tools but
omit the actual les or iso images. Users wishing to use these optional tools must download the
packages and include them to the DVD/USB according to the instructions provided below. The
only tool required to do this is a CD image editor such as:
IsoMaster. 1 found on this DVD (look in Parted Magic Linux).
UltraISO. 2 found on this DVD (look in HBCD program launcher).
WinImage. 3
The instructions below are illustrated with IsoMaster, but it should not be too dicult to
perform equivalent actions with any other CD image editor.
SystemRescueCD(384Mb)
HBCD already provides a very good Linux live rescue CD (Parted Magic) but in many respects
SystemRescueCD is superior. For example, it can act as a PXE boot server to boot via the
network computers that have no optical drives or USB sockets. It supports the new GPT hard
disk layout. SystemRescueCD is Gentoo 4 based and many system administrators are more
comfortable and familiar with this distribution.
Download the CD image from http://www.sysresccd.org/Download (Select the default
choice).
Open the image with Isomaster.
Extract le sysrcd.dat and save it somewhere.
Remove sysrcd.dat from image.

IfyouareextendingtheHBCDDVDimage:
Open HBCD DVD iso image with IsoMaster.
Add sysrcd.dat to / and srcd.iso to the directory /iso and save the extended image
under a dierent lename, e.g. HBCD-extended.iso .
Close IsoMaster and the new HBCD iso image is ready to use with SysRescueCD installed.
It can be started from the boot menu as shown:

Copy sysrcd.dat to the root of the USB drive ( / ) and srcd.iso to the directory /iso .
The USB drive is ready for use with SysRescueCD installed.
Warning:When transferring iso images to bootable USB sticks or drives, care must be taken
so that the images are writtencontiguously. If an image is fragmented it will not boot.
Fragmentation happens when les are written in the space left by the deletion of other les. For

example if a small le is deleted and subsequently a larger le is written chances are the larger
le will be fragmented. Always use a freshly formated stick where nothing has been deleted, or
use a defragmentation utility.
BackTrack(2.8Gb)
An Ubuntu based Linux live CD for digital forensics and penetration (sic) testing. It includes
many well known security (or hacking) tools, e.g. Aircrack, Ophcrack, Gerix Wi Cracker,
disassemblers, sniers, etc., as well as commonplace applications such as browsers, le managers,
editors, torrent clients, etc.
Download the iso image from http://www.backtrack-linux.org/downloads
Open the iso image with IsoMaster.
Extract from the iso image the directories /casper and /preseed . We do not need the
rest of the BackTrack iso image.
Open the HBCD iso image, add directories /casper and /preseed , and save as described
in the rst example.
Tails(790Mb)
A privacy oriented linux live CD. It contains everything one needs (browsers, messaging, e-mail,
oce, etc.) precongured with security in mind. Tail internet connectivity relies on the Torr 1
anonymity network to protect privacy. Thus internet connections cannot be traced back. It also
leaves no trace on the computer it uses.
Download the iso image from https://tails.boum.org
Using IsoMaster, as described in the rst example, extract and then remove from the image
the directory /live .
Save the truncated iso image with the name tails.iso .
Open the HBCD iso image and add the directory /live to the root of the iso image. Also
the le tails.iso to the /iso directory of the HBCD iso image and then save.
GeekSquadMRI(640Mb)
Geek Squad's diagnostics and repair disk it is not free software. I nd it cumbersome and
slow whilst not oering anything more than the tools we already have on HBCD. Some people,
however, want to integrate it with HBCD. So here it is.
Download the iso image.
It can be found as a torrent: http://www.demonoid.ph/files/details/2833755 .
Open the MRI iso image, extract, save and delete the directory /sources and the le
MRI.exe .
Save truncated iso image with the name mri.iso
Open HBCD iso image and add /sources and MRI.exe to the root directory, the truncated
image mri.iso to the directory /iso and save.
