Printing – Soft Proofing
Request
I would like to see how colors will print before actually printing an image.
Response
You can use the Soft Proof feature in Capture NX to predict and check how colors will
appear when printed from your computer monitor.
Before

You can see how colors will print by enabling
the Soft Proof feature.
Monitor calibration
To take full advantage of the Soft Proof feature, you must first calibrate (adjust settings so that
colors are correctly displayed) your computer monitor. If the monitor is not properly calibrated,
colors will not be correctly displayed.

STEP 1: Open an image
This is a Soft Proof image. Here we will check to see how colors in this flower image will
actually print.

STEP 2: Enable Soft Proof
X Click the triangle to the right of Soft Proof Off displayed at the bottom of the image
window.
Y The Soft Proof dialog is displayed.
Z Select Soft Proof On .
[ From the Target Profile pulldown menu, choose the color profile compatible with your
printer model and the type of paper to be used.
\ Select Perceptual from the Intent pulldown menu.
] Check the Use Blackpoint Compensation option.
^ Click OK .
