This article is about a PSU’s. he basis of the power supply is transformer, first conceived by Joseph Henry and Michael Faraday in 1831. It’s really important for computers, because in walls we’ve got 240 V, and parts of computer need’s much less. You need buy new PSU only for two reasons. First one is, when your old PSU stopped working. The second reason is when you changed parts in your computer, and you need more power. The basic supply format is ATX. Main motherboard connection in this standard is a 20-24 pin block. It has all voltages. Sometimes extra four pins are separate, so you can use old motherboards. New processors need special 12V supply, which is delivered via 4-pin plug, also called P4. Part of computer which need most of power is graphic card. On PCI slot graphic cards has only 75 watts. It’s enough for any part of computer, but not for a GPU. So you need to deliver more watts. You can do it via special 6-pin connector which delivered another 75 watts or 8-pin connector which has 150 watts. Another type of plug is SATA power cables. It’s special cable for SATA disks. In New PSU’s you have sockets for power cable, so you can connect only this type’s of cable, what you need. It help’s to not blocking airflow. In PSU’s we’ve got 3 type’s of tension’s: 12 V, 5.5V and 3.3 V. from ATX 2.0 we’ve got second 12 rail. First one is only for CPU, and second is for everything else. The question is why we need so many rails. Its important, because if we’ve got everything on one rail, It’ll be a heating element, and tensions will be unstable. Really important thing in PSUs is wasted energy. If you have really good PSU, then your power efficiency is about 80-90 per cent. That means, if your computer need 400 watts, then PSU is drawing 500 watts from wall. It is acceptable, because electricity is cheap. Last thing which is important, is loading. A power supply has sweet spots, where it’s most efficient. It’s about 30-50 degrees. If you have more or less, then you lost few more watts.  What about trimming? I think PSUs should work good. It doesn’t need to look well. Every diodes, or another trimmings are unnecessary.
