Mike Thorson
Product Manager / Design Team Leader
A fishing fanatic from the time he caught his first Blue Gill as a young boy, Mike has grown to be one of the industry’s most rec-
ognizable designers. Mike has been involved in the fishing industry for over 33 years. He spent time in all aspects of the business
including retail, wholesale, manufacturing, sales and product development. He has participated in many tournaments over the
years, is a certified fly casting instructor and a multi-species angling expert. Mike’s wealth of knowledge and experience provides the
anchor for the Batson Enterprises™ design team.
Bill Batson
CEO Batson Enterprises™, Inc.
Bill is what you call a hands on CEO. Unlike other companies where the CEO plays golf, Bill is a very passionate custom rod builder
and fisherman. From his days as a young man growing up in Hawaii and helping his father build custom rods until today, Bill’s
favorite pastime has been building custom rods, or chasing whatever is biting. He has fished from the time he was big enough to
hold a rod until today. Bill has over 20 years experience in the fishing industry and his last twelve years has been directly involved in
the wholesale component business.
Karry Batson
Sales / Product Development
Two terms come to mind when describing Karry, “Fishaholic” & “Rodaholic”. Karry spent five years guiding in Alaska for Salmon,
Steelhead & Trout. He built his first custom rod at age 15. Over the years Karry has built countless custom rods himself! “The guy
with gills” is how we describe Karry around Batson Enterprises™, Inc. In an average year Karry is on the water no fewer than 125
days. He is an expert rod builder, accomplished fly caster and multi-species angling expert.
Adam Hansen
Sales / Product Development
Adam is the newest addition to the Batson sales team. Prior to being promoted to sales, Adam was responsible for
blank inspection / quality control & freight / order processing. He knows our blanks and parts like the back of his hand. Adam
started fishing when he was big enough to hold a rod, and has never stopped since. In the last couple of years Adam has become
quite a rod builder, building in excess of 100 rods for family, friends and customers. When not fishing Adam enjoys hunting water-
fowl, blacktail deer and elk any chance he gets.
Other Contributors To The Design Of Batson Product Line Up
The Batson design team also works very closely with an extensive network of industry experts who provide valuable input on various
blank and components designs we offer. We recognize that it is impossible to have all the answers and truly value input from our
dealers, pro staff members, and end users.
We are also very fortunate to be aligned with vendors who have some of the finest engineers the world has to offer in terms of blank
and component design and manufacturing. We regularly travel abroad to meet with the various engineering teams and combine
talents to offer our customer base the very finest products from a design and performance standpoint

As you can see, our product team is comprised of a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for rod building and the
outdoors. This passion is transferred into all that we offer, from blanks to components. Because we not only design these
