Flash Programming today
In the automotive industry, it is now absolutely standard to
modify code and data for ECUs simply using the CAN bus or
K-line. It is completely irrelevant whether programming takes
place during Engineering or Testing or on site at the ECU supplier’s
or vehicle manufacturer’s premises: what is required in each
case is an easy-to-use tool which does its work quickly and
reliably. The flash data is either stored in a central database or
is generated directly by an engineering tool. Whether the data
is in a standard or proprietary data format does not matter. The
important thing is for users to be able to program the data easily
into the ECU and that the subsequent test sequences can then
be started immediately.
Advantages of DTS-Flash
Application orientation
The user interface is limited to the display of the ECUs and the
data to be programmed. Communication with the ECU thus
remains hidden. The ECU configuration is created with just a few
clicks of the mouse using a wizard on the basis of a hex file.
This configuration means that the hex file in the flash memory
can simply be replaced by new data contents.
Security
Using the EDIC ® hardware family ensures optimized data
transfer with guaranteed timings.
Process Integration
The flexibility in the application and the fact that existing data
can be reused make it possible to integrate DTS-Flash in virtually
every data exchange process.
Flexibility
In addition to the pure “one-button solution” described above,
DTS-Flash also supports the engineering of the complex
flash procedure. The innovative “5-step approach” makes it
possible to execute the various steps involved in programming
(initialization, compatibility check, programming sequence,
validation and completion) individually and also to repeat them.
This means that users can organize their flash procedure
flexibly. The procedures themselves can be adapted easily and
at any time to the individual ECU.
