L'ausiliare can ha vari sensi. Esprime :
· le percezioni involontarie e gli stati
d'animo. Si impiega davanti ai verbi:
to hear, to see, to feel, to understand...
Esempio:
Don't speak so loud. She can hear you.
I cannot (can't) understand why you're nervous.
· la facoltà intellettuale e fisica, la conoscenza. Can in
questo caso può essere sostituito da to know how to.
I can swim. = I know how to swim.
She can read. = She knows how to read.
