INTRODUCTION
PROFESSIONAL ADDICTION
Many professional portrait photographers find that chil-
dren can be addictive. In this book you will meet fifteen
professionals in the children’s portrait field who are
charmed and enthusiastic about babies, toddlers, and
older children. You should also be aware that kids are
bothchallengingandengaging,andthesephotographers
areusuallypaidwellfortheworktheyenjoy.
A majority of the professionals who make portraits of
children are women who have children of their own.
However,themeninthisbookareasferventandempa-
thetic about kids as the women, and most are fathers.
Some contributors were motivated to become a profes-
sionalphotographeraftertheirchildrenwereborn;many
