everyherbyieldingseed,whichisonthe
surfaceofalltheearth,andeverytree,
whichbearsfruityieldingseed.Itwillbe
yourfood.

.Toeveryanimaloftheearth,andto

thatcreepsontheearth,inwhichthereis
life,Ihavegiveneverygreenherbforfood.

bones,andfleshofmyflesh.Shewillbe
calledWoman,becauseshewastakenout

.Thereforeamanwillleavehisfather
andhismother,andwilljoinwithhiswife,
andtheywillbeoneflesh.

.Theywerebothnaked,themanand
hiswife,andwerenotashamed.

.Bothoftheireyeswereopened,and
theyknewthattheywerenaked.Theyse-
wedfigleavestogether,andmadethem-
selvesaprons.

.TheyheardthevoiceofYahwehGod
walkinginthegardeninthecoolofthe
day,andthemanandhiswifehidthem-
selvesfromthepresenceofYahwehGod
amongthetreesofthegarden.

.YahwehGodcalledtotheman,andsaid
tohim,Whereareyou?

.Themansaid,Iheardyourvoicein
thegarden,andIwasafraid,becauseIwas
naked;andIhidmyself.

.Godsaid,Whotoldyouthatyouwere
naked?Haveyoueatenfromthetreethat
Icommandedyounottoeatfrom?

gavetobewithme,shegavemeofthe
tree,andIate.

.YahwehGodsaidtothewoman,What
isthisyouhavedone?Thewomansaid,
Theserpentdeceivedme,andIate.

.YahwehGodsaidtotheserpent,Be-
causeyouhavedonethis,cursedareyou
aboveallcattle,andaboveeveryanimalof
thefield.Onyourbellyshallyougo,and
youshalleatdustallthedaysofyourlife.

.Iwillputenmitybetweenyouandthe
woman,andbetweenyourospringand
herospring.Hewillbruiseyourhead,and
youwillbruisehisheel.

.Tothewomanhesaid,Iwillgreatly
multiplyyourpaininchildbirth.Inpain
youwillbringforthchildren.Yourdesire
willbeforyourhusband,andhewillrule
overyou.

.ToAdamhesaid,Becauseyouha-
velistenedtoyourwife’svoice,andhave
eatenofthetree,ofwhichIcommanded
you,saying,Youshallnoteatofit,cursed
isthegroundforyoursake.Intoilyouwill
eatofitallthedaysofyourlife.
