We use will to express:
A promise or offer:
I will help you with your homework
A sudden/spontaneous decision:
Are you thirsty? I'll make you some tea.
A general prediction:
It will rain tomorrow.
A future fact:
The President will visit on Thursday.

We use going to to express:
A personal intention/plan made before the moment of speaking: I'm going to go to the
concert.
A prediction based on something you know, feel or you can see: Look! He's going to fall in
the river!
UWAGA Do not confuse going to + verb and the present continuous going + to , which also
has a future meaning:
I'm going to go to the pub
( = a plan which was arranged before)
