The Song of all Songs – Deborah Hiebert
Theological Foundations of the Forerunner Ministry Page 2
I. THE SONG OF SONGS—The Greatest prophetic song
A. The purpose of prophetic songs is to reveal the fresh heart of Jesus (Rev. 19:10)—the beauty, splendor and majesty of His personality. Jesus has a testimony that He wants proclaimed to the nations. This testimony reveals what He is thinking, feeling and doing in the past, present and future—in God’s economy these are all unified in eternal present tense.
B. The Holy Spirit’s exalting of Jesus in the Song of Songs—Jn. 17:26
C. This book is the greatest song ever written. Through its pages we see the love language between Christ and His Bride.
D. The sweet communion that keeps the heart of the Bride steady through the darkest night of human history until the consummation of love at His second coming.
E. The Song of Songs is above and beyond all the songs that have ever come from human heart and human lips. A song coming from the courts of heaven.
F. This Song tells of the slain Lamb and the slain bride.
G. In this Song of all Songs, we see the progression of weak love unto mighty love, immature love to mature love.
Through its pages we see the aching heart of the Bridegroom and the rejoicing heart of the Father.
H. The Bride chooses to worship her Beloved in His presence and in His absence.
I. In Psalm 29, David describes a people who are the mighty ones in the earth, giving to the Lord the glory due His name.
J. The Bride looses judgment on the nations of the earth—The Worship Movement at the End of the Age and on into the millennial kingdom.
“Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples.” Ps. 149: 5
“My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men who are set on fire, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down; they have dug a pit for me; into the midst of it they themselves have fallen. My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Awake my glory! Awake lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O Lord among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations.” Psalm 57: 4-9
II. the Bride is given many prophetic promises—Song 1:1-4
A. Within this first chapter reveals many hidden promises, a foreshadowing of what is to come for the heart that says yes. There are countless gifts given to the Bride that will give her the necessary strength for the journey. And there are countless rewards promised.
B. In this chapter that marks the beginning of her journey there is nothing lacking from the heart of her Bridegroom.
A. In verse one, “The Song which is Solomon’s” is foreshadowing a promise of peace. Solomon means “peaceful” or “prince of peace”. In Song 8:10, she proclaims, “I have found peace before His eyes.”
B. In verse two, “For Your love is better than wine” is foreshadowing a promise of the Bride entering into the superior pleasures of God Himself. Throughout the book she experiences His supernatural power on her emotions as She chooses Him over the passing strength of the world.
C. The Bride gives her 2-fold life vision in verse 4: “Draw me away, we will run after you”. This is foreshadowing the Bride’s eternal destiny: A Bride in holy union with Jesus, and a suitable partner, ruling and reigning His kingdom with Him.
D. “The King has brought me into His chambers”—I believe this is speaking of the many chambers the King has ordained for her to enter into throughout her journey. An unbelievable promise is given to her: to be escorted by the King Himself into His very chambers. It is already accomplished in the heart of God, it was finished at the cross. The veil has been torn. This is speaking of our journey into the inexhaustible, unsearchable revelations of God that we have been invited into. Each revelation of Him will call for a greater humility in our life. As He increases, we must decrease. For every onward step means greater death to self.
E. “We will be glad and rejoice in you”—This is the Song the Bride will sing at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Rev. 19:7). He places this song in her heart at the beginning of the journey.
F. “We will remember your love more than wine”—She is about to go through the darkest night of human history. She prophesies that the divine might that comes from the strength of His Love will fill her heart instead of the passing strength of this world.
G. “Rightly do they love You”—Again she prophesies, “In an hour when Satan will use all His power to allure and deceive the human heart, Rightly do they love You. You are worthy of all my affection. I will not give in to the accusations, the temptations, the deception, or the comforts of this age. My heart belongs to the King of Kings, the Lord of lords, He who is Chief among ten thousand. She says to the dying world, “to know Him is to love Him.”
III. which is solomon’s—SOng 1:1
A. Solomon means “peaceful” or “prince of peace”. Solomon’s earthly reign was foreshadowing Christ’s reign of peace and plenty.
B. Within this first line is already foreshadowing a promise: In Song 8:10, the bride gives testimony to finding peace before the eyes of her King.
“I am a wall, and my breasts like towers; then I became in His eyes as one who had found peace.” Song of Solomon 8:10
C. “Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.” (Ps. 122: 7)
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” Isaiah 26: 3
“The glory of the latter temple shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts. Haggai 2:9
“Great peace have those who keep Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.” Psalm 119: 165
“The way of peace they have not known, and there is no justice in their ways; They have made themselves crooked paths, whoever takes that way shall not know peace.” Isaiah 59:8
“They have also healed the hurt of my people slightly, saying, ‘peace, peace!” When there is no peace. Jeremiah 6: 14
IV. The protective kiss of His worD
“Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His word.” Song 1: 2
A. The Bride is awakened to fervency: She cries out for the Kisses of His mouth. This refers to the Holy Spirit working in us to enlarge our capacity:
B. Kiss the Son—The Call of the Bridegroom to this generation, the final call (Matt. 25; Psalm 2) The Holy Spirit has been commissioned in this hour to bring the human heart into the experience of the Kiss of the Word. As He escorts us into the experience of the kisses of His Word, we are safe for the coming crisis.
C. The Spirit and the Bride in unity with the Father’s heart
The Bride asks of the Father, “Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His word.”
The Holy Spirit beckons, “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and perish in the way.”
D. The call to intimacy is the very protection of the heart
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way
E. There is a premise David is operating from—an eschatological ultimatum. There is an ultimatum God initiated for the End of the Age. David is speaking with prophetic insight… He is saying, The drama at the end of the age is too intense to stand at a distance and remain loyal. When He shakes and dashes the nations if you don’t move into deep fellowship with Him you’ll end up in hostility against Him.
V. The superior pleasures in the grace of God
A. What is the desired result of the kisses of His word? Why does she so long for them? What is the inevitable impact? Verse 2b supplies the answer. She gives us her theology. She uses the word “for”, to signify the purpose of the kisses. The word “for” sets forth the reason for the kisses.
