Hello, and welcome to the ‘Self Hypnosis Revealed’ ebook. Before you begin
reading, I want to take a moment to ensure that you get the very best out of this
material.
Not many people realise the value of this material so I would like to invite you to
consider the following.
Let’s pretend that you are a smoker, and you want to quit.
Without this book as your guide, your only real option of using hypnosis to
achieve your goal is to pay for a session with a local hypnotherapist.
When I was working as a hypnotherapist my fee for a one-stop smoking
cessation session was £250. This usually lasted up to 3 hours and any additional
sessions, if required, were free.
That’s £250 to become a non-smoker. Given the enormous cost of a lifetime of
smoking and the obvious health risks, £250 is a very fair price. (But it is much
more than you paid for this book!)
Now let’s imagine that you not only want to quit smoking, but you also want to
lose weight.
If you told a hypnotist that you wanted to lose weight as well as quit smoking,
they would simply book you in for additional sessions. Weight loss usually
requires several sessions and can quickly become very expensive.
Smoking and weight loss are always the first subjects people consider when they
think about hypnosis, but hypnosis is much more useful than that.
Most people have at least one phobia. It might be heights, spiders, public
speaking, flying or practically anything! There’s even a phobia of getting phobias!
As you probably know, hypnosis is incredibly effective at removing the phobic
response. In recent years, the development of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic
Programming) has made it possible to completely eliminate a phobia in a single
painless session.
Most phobias don’t really affect us often enough to become a problem, but when
they do, it can be terrifying. A typical example of this might be a fear of public
speaking. This is one of the most common phobias suffered by adults, but it only
really becomes a problem when you are asked to give a speech. And as our
friends, and indeed ourselves, begin getting married, this crippling phobia
suddenly demands attention!
For a hypnotist to eliminate a phobia is very easy, but you will most certainly be
charged for the privilege! Of course, having previously paid to quit smoking and
lose weight makes no difference to the therapist.
This brings us to the alternative; self hypnosis.
By learning self hypnosis you will never ever have to pay a single penny to
change your life. If you want to quit smoking, you will be able to do it yourself. If
you want to lose weight, then you can. If you want to eliminate a million different
phobias it’s easy! Once you have learned the art of self hypnosis every single
session will cost exactly the same. Nothing!
So, this brings me on to a very important point. If you read this book, you will
NOT learn self hypnosis.
However, if you read this book, do the exercises, follow the examples, re-read
the parts you don’t grasp first time and actually practise the techniques, you will!
This book isn’t just a collection of information, it’s a guide to achieving something.
This book will teach you a new skill that you will be able to use for the rest of your
life.
Think of a cook book. A cook book isn’t created to be read in the study, it’s
created to be used in the kitchen! A cook book is nothing if you never bake a
cake. This is your magic cook book that will enable you to bake any cake you
desire for the rest of your life!
As you work though the book, you will discover many examples that you can
follow to achieve specific goals, such as becoming a non smoker, or increasing
your confidence.
However, don’t limit yourself to the material you discover here. You’re learning
how to hypnotise yourself. What you do with the trance state you create is
entirely up to you.
I know people that have used the techniques you’re about to learn to do all sorts
of things, from becoming a better guitar soloist to speaking more fluent German!
Absolutely anything that any human can do can be massively improved with the
help of hypnosis.
Before I discovered hypnosis I was a terrible insomniac, but I now hypnotise
myself every night while lying in bed and make powerful productive changes to
my life before drifting off to sleep. I even hypnotise myself to get up at specific
times! I haven’t set an alarm clock in years and never oversleep!
Don’t look at this material as a book on self hypnosis, see this text as your own
personal hypnotherapist that is with you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365
days a year.
A hypnotist that will never ever charge you for a session. A hypnotist that will use
the awesome power of hypnosis to help you achieve absolutely anything you
desire. A confidential hypnotist that will help you with embarrassing problems
without asking probing questions. A hypnotist that is ready and willing to assist
you whenever it’s convenient, even if that’s in the middle of the night. A hypnotist
that always comes to you and never expects anything in return.
Hypnotists like this simply don’t exist. But you can create your very own right
now. So, let’s get started!
Fundamentals of Hypnosis
Hypnosis is an induced state of mind or altered state of consciousness, during
which the subject becomes receptive to suggestions. The hypnotic state is
induced by suggestively removing conscious awareness to maintain a higher
level of concentration. The skilled professional hypnotist supplies instruction of
timed intervals to a cooperative subject to obtain this state of mind.
We experience hypnosis many times during the day and we are unaware that it
has happened. We experience hypnosis when watching a movie or television,
when daydreaming, or when driving a car for long periods – and cannot
remember certain familiar places that we have passed. We experience the
hypnotic state when we read or get enraptured in music. In other words, we have
experienced this delightful state, and we have the potential to create it for our
own desired benefit. That is where self hypnosis comes into play. Instead of
having hypnosis happen to us whilst experiencing an event or allowing a
professional to induce this state, we induce ourselves in this blissful state and
direct our energies toward the ends we wish and desire.
Hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool. When coupled with the appropriate
suggestions, it can effect unbelievable changes in an individual. These changes
can take on the character of altering bodily to changing behaviour and attitudes.
This book on self hypnosis is useful to anyone who wishes to redirect and
improve their behaviour and attitudes for a better and productive way of life.
Once you have mastered the techniques and experience of self hypnosis, you
will have them for the rest of your life; to be used by you and for you, for
increased motivation, self sufficiency, self confidence, self understanding and self
improvement. The unique ability to use self hypnosis as needed on a continuing
basis for self development is strongly recommended.
There are seven basic elements to self hypnosis that must be mastered:
1. Induced state of hypnotic trance through relaxation.
2. Testing depth of trance.
3. Problem areas to be investigated.
4. Post hypnotic suggestions for change.
5. State of relaxation prior to awakening.
6. Awake clear headed and full of energy.
7. Practise daily for approximately 15minutes (a must).
Relaxation Techniques
In the field of hypnosis there are virtually scores of verbal and non-verbal
techniques to induce the desired state of deep relaxation. Many hypnotists use
lights, pencils, candles, crystal balls, swinging watches, pendulums, and other
objects. In learning self hypnosis none of these artificial means will be used.
Becoming aware of your own thought processes for self directed hypnosis is the
starting point of auto-suggestion to becoming deeply relaxed. This means to be
relaxed in mind and body, to induce the receptive state so effectively created by
your own suggestion.
Hypnosis has been likened to the experience of sleep. This, however, is
incorrect, for you do not go to sleep, oblivious to your surroundings in hypnosis.
(A better word would be ‘altered state’) For at all times during self hypnosis you
will be entirely aware of your surroundings, will hear outside noises, and will not
be asleep. This does not mean, if you are particularly tired when inducing self
hypnosis that you will not slip into natural sleep. For a beginner this is always
possible. With training and practise, however, you will find that you will remain
simply relaxed until your practise period of fifteen to twenty minutes is concluded.
How to practise
Select an easy chair in your home, one you usually sit in, and one in which you
are at ease. Remove or loosen any tight clothing (neckties, belts etc.). Turn off all
radios, television and take your telephone off the hook. It is necessary you not be
disturbed. Have both feet on the floor or on the foot rest or hassock or your easy
chair. Do not cross your legs; this cuts off circulation. Look at the clock. Note
what time it is, and then imagine it fifteen minutes later. For example, if you have
chosen to practise at 6.00 p.m., then imagine the time is 6.15 p.m. Use your
imagination, for you will be doing a lot of this as the course progresses.
With repeated practise you will find that in time you will be opening your eyes at
the conclusion of your practise period and it will be exactly fifteen minutes later.
We have all done this many times without, perhaps, realizing how the
subconscious responds to the image we give it. Many times we have set the
alarm clock the night before for an early rising, only to waken before the alarm
goes off. Essentially, this is evidence of image psychology and how we can direct
our minds, even in sleep, to respond precisely.
