Baby Bib Cards

MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Creative Hammer Card: CEM02 Cream.
Peel Off Stickers: XL539U-01 Teddy,
XL416U-01 Wording, XL554U-01 Hearts
and XL417U-01 Congratulations.
Pleated Lace or Ribbon.
6mm Satin Ribbon: RIB03-02 Cream.
Glitter Glue: GLI44 Gold.
Tracing Paper and Pencil.
Paper Pricking Tool (optional).
Craft Knife and Cutting Mat.
Double Sided Tape: ADH13.
Sticky Fixer Pads: ADH18.
UHU All Purpose Glue: ADH01.
Card Mounts:
2 x SF06U-46 Hammer Cream.
TO MAKE THE CARD:
Trace the half bib shape and corner mark from the
diagram. Fold one of the card blanks (card 1) as
usual, and with the fold at the top, make a light pencil
mark down the centre. Place the tracing over the
card with the short straight edge along the fold and
the long straight edge along the centre line. Retrace
to transfer the lines (except for the long straight line)
to the card front. Turn the tracing over and mark the
other half onto the card in the same way.
Place the folded card on the cutting mat and care-
fully cut out along the traced lines leaving the two
sides at the top uncut. Fold the second card blank
with the hammer effect on the inside (card 2), slip it
inside card 1 and align the folds neatly. Use a pencil
to draw the bib shape onto card 2 then cut this card
to shape too. Rub out
any pencil marks left on
both cards.
Open out card 2, and
place it hammer-side
down. Use UHU or dou-
ble sided tape around
the edge of the bib as
shown. Stick the lace
onto the adhesive over-
lapping the edge of the
card and placing it to
leave a neat frill as shown. Begin at ‘A’ and work right
around the card to finish back at ‘A’. If you don’t have
pleated lace you can gather a strip of lace or ribbon
yourself to use instead.
Place double sided tape next to the fold from ‘A’ to
‘B’, and do the same on the left side. Cut two lengths
of cream ribbon about 20cm long and press onto the
tape with the long ends to the neck edge.
Use glue or double sided tape to stick card 1 over
this, make sure the loose ends of the ribbon are not
trapped and that the two cards match up nicely.
Press the card firmly under something heavy while
you do the next bit.
Place the teddy peel off sticker onto cream card
and cut to the sticker edge. Add the waste from the
sheet to infill the centre of the paws and ears, the
bow, eyes, nose and flower petals. Add the wording
across the heart and then lightly brush glitter glue
across the whole ted.
Take the card out from under the weight and check
that it is nicely stuck. With the card open and face
up, use UHU to glue the lace around the front of the
neck edge from ‘B’ as follows. Glue the lacy edge to
the card with the bound edge overlapping the neck

hole, cut the lace when you get to the ribbon. Open the card
and fold the lace over to the inside, gluing in place to bind
the edge nicely. Repeat this for the back of the neck hole.
Use the pricking tool to pick up the heart stickers
from the inside of the heart border peel offs. Place
these around the outside edge of the front, position-
ing them with the points inwards, as shown.
Use the oval shaped waste pieces from the cor-
ners on the same sheet to make a pattern in the
bottom centre and then add two rows of hearts
up each side as shown on the diagram. These
don’t need to be too even, just spaced naturally.
Add the completed ted into place on the bib
using sticky fixers.
Open out the card, place on clean paper and
apply a little gold glitter glue to the edges of the
lace around the neck and around the card edges.
Tie the ribbon into a nice bow, glue the knot to
hold it in place and trim the ends neatly. Add a con-
gratulations sticker to the inside to complete.

VARIATIONS:
You can of course use pink or blue card and ribbon
in place of the cream with everything else just as it is,
although pink and pale blue do look better with silver
highlights and stickers instead of gold.
These options are made using printed card with
a different pattern inside and I’ve replaced the lace
at the neck with the heart border. The blue teddy is
stuck onto Vivelle so he is furry, and both teds have
bits coloured in with lumocolor (LUM01) pens.
