Curtain in PS.pdf

Since the curtain has been lifted from Photoshop CS this week, I thought it would
be appropriate to use one of the new filters to create a realistic curtain.
Begin with a new blank document in RGB mode with a white background

Filter>render>Fibers
I really love this new filter as it opens up a lot of new texturing possibilities
Choose a low strength to keep things smooth and keep the variance pretty low
too
Click OK
Filter>blur>motion blur
This will smoothen things out a bit

Lets remove some of the detail for a smother look
Filter>blur>Gaussian blur
Now to balance the shadows and highlights
Image>adjust>levels
Move the sliders so that the white and black arrows are near the beginning and
end of the "mountain" on the histogram
You should now have a pretty convincing curtain

Lets add a bit of color now
Image>adjust>Hue/Saturation
Choose colorize and make it red
Here I used a displacement map to wrap some text on the curtain.
