LESSON PLANNING
What are the goals for the lesson and each task? How do the goals of a particular lesson reflect the long- term vision?
Which language items will be taught or used? Which topics will be covered? Which contexts will appear? What skills will be practised?
Which tasks will help students achieve the goals? How will the tasks be related? What’s the duration time for each task? Are the tasks varied?
What materials are needed for each task? What should I borrow, copy, etc.? What task to prepare for homework? What do the students need?
What will be the display of desks like? What instructions will I use? What if they are unclear? How long is the whole lesson? How to pace the time? Will the students be sitting or standing?
What do they like doing? Which subjects are they interested in? What do they already know? What could cause them problems and difficulties? How will they cope with the problems?
!!!!!!! You cannot predict or plan many things that will appear during the lesson. But the better you are prepared, the bigger likelihood that you will be able to cope with different situations.
GENERAL RULE : PREPARE CAREFULLY, BUT ( IN THE CLASSROOM) TEACH, NOT ONLY CONDUCT A LESSON.
React to your students, adapt the material during the lesson; even if it means rejection of a whole plan. The teacher stricktly obeying the plan is unable to fully react to what’s going on in the classroom.
