1. Introduction

Created exclusively for the Mac, djay seamlessly integrates with your iTunes library and makes it easy for you to mix your favorite music.  Perform live, create and record mixes at home, or let djay mix any playlist automatically with seamless, professional transitions. Unprecedented ease-of-use, combined with powerful and innovative features like Drag & Drop mixing, Automatic Tempo & Beat Detection and Multi-Touch Trackpad Scratching, make djay the perfect tool for beginners and seasoned pros alike. djay supports all major audio formats, including MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, Audio-CD and DRM-protected songs from the iTunes Music Store.

djay is localized to English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese. The language will be automatically chosen based on your system language settings.

2. System Requirements

- Intel or PowerPC G4/G5 processor (Intel recommended)

- 1.25 Ghz (1.8 Ghz or faster processor recommended)

- 1 GB Ram or higher

- Mac OS X v10.4 (Tiger) or higher

djay runs natively on all Intel-based Macs and the older generation Macs with PowerPC processor (G4/G5).

To make use of djay's Pre-Cueing feature, which allows you to pre-listen to songs independent of the main audio output, you need either USB headphones, or a USB adapter to plug in your headphones (for example an iMic USB adapter), or an external sound card.

To make use of djay's Live Microphone support, you can either use the microphone that is built into your Mac computer, or plug in an external input device.

djay supports most hardware devices (input, output and MIDI) that are detected by Mac OS X.

Scratching and mixing with two-finger motions on the built-in trackpad requires a notebook with support for two-finger scrolling (e.g. various older iBook and PowerBook models, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air).

Scratching and mixing with three-finger motions on the built-in trackpad requires a notebook with support for Multi-Touch (e.g. MacBook Air, recent MacBook Pro).

If you are not sure whether your hardware/software works smoothly with djay, we ask you to make use of our Demo License offers and test your setup before buying a full license. Contact support@algoriddim.net for further guidance.

We recommend that you regularly update your system whenever new updates are available (e.g. Mac OS X updates). These updates usually include system optimizations which will further improve the performance of djay.

3. Installation

Drag the djay icon from the installer disk to any place on your hard drive. We recommend the "Applications" folder. Double-click on the djay icon to start the software.

4. Documentation

djay’s integrated help system is available through the "Help" menu in djay (in English).

5. Limitations of the Demo Version

- No recording

- No saving of audio samples

- 15 day trial period:

During this trial period you can run djay for 30 minutes per session. Then the software will terminate and you need to restart djay. After the 15 day trial period expires, you can still run djay, but the software will terminate after 15 minutes and you have to relaunch it.

6. Buying a License

djay can be securely purchased either through our integrated shopping cart system straight from inside the software, or from our web store at http://www.djay-software.com/buy. The worldwide payment processing that is integrated into the application, allows you to instantly obtain a license and fully activate the software without any extra steps.

In either case an Internet connection is required.

algoriddim is cooperating with Kagi, one of the web's well established e-commerce providers, to offer you a most secure and convenient way to purchase our products.

7. Activating the Software

In order to fully activate the software, and unlock all demo limitations you have to activate djay.

If you purchase djay through the integrated shopping cart inside the software, it will be instantly activated for you right after the payment procedure. A confirmation email with your registration information will be sent to you shortly after.

If you purchase djay through the online web store, you will receive an email receipt with your registration information (including your unique, personal license code). Launch the djay demo version and click the "Activate" button on the start up "Welcome" window. After you have entered your registration information in the required fields you can start to enjoy the full functionality of djay.
