Connect VAG-CAN cable and install driver. Check in device manager under ports and make a note of what port number the cable has been assigned to. If the device is configured on COM Port 5 or omore, you will need to go into advanced settings and install the device on COM Port 1 - 4. Install VWTool by setup.exe. Once installed, you will need to configure ports for the software. This can be done by opening CONFIGVW.EXE from the start menu in the VWTOOL Folder. You will get the option of selecting a serial port and selecting preferred units for speed and temperature. For the post setting, select the COM Port number as noted from device manager earlier. Once done, you are now ready to run the VWTool. Simply select VWTOOL.EXE from the start menu/VWTOOL folder. To read DTC's, select desired system and press Fault Codes.
