Fabric needed
Small 3/8 yd (0.35cm) based on fabric being 45 thru 60” wide (115-150cm)
Medium and large ½ yd (0.50cm) based on fabric being 45 thru 60” wide (115-150cm)
Interfacing 5/8 yd (0.60cm) based on interfacing being 22” wide (56cm)
Lining ¼ yd (0.25cm) based on lining being 45” wide (115cm)
Suggested fabrics
Gabardine, lightweight woollen, brocade, satin, jacquards and damask.
CUMMRBUND INSTRUCTIONS
Fuse INTERFACING to wrong side of each
matching FABRIC section, following
manufacturer’s directions.
To make pleats in CUMMERBUND, on
outside, bring lines with small circles to lines
with large circles. Baste across pleats.
Stitch each SIDE to short ends of
cummerbund, matching notches.
Trim seam allowances.
Press seam allowances toward sides.
For ties, cut two pieces of elastic, each 7 ½”
(19cm) long.
Insert one end of one tie through slide
adjuster.
Slip same end of tie through eye section and
back through underside of slide adjuster,
turning under 1 ¼” (3.2 cm). Turn under ¼”
(6mm) on end and stitch in place.

Insert end of remaning tie through hook
section. Turn under ¾” (2cm). Stitch in place
½” (1.3 cm) from fold
On outside, pin each tie side edges of
cummerbund between squares. Baste
Pin LINING to cummerbund, right sides
together, matching notches. Stitch, leaving an
opening on lower edge for turning.
Trim seam allowances
Turn right side out. Press. SLIPSTITCH.
Opening edges together.
